Charley Murphy's cooking Johnsonville Brats!

Good memory CJ.  Though the actual commercial is nowhere to be found on the internets, I did find evidence that it's Charley Murphy.

Quick visit to Chicago

Weakened by a couple days with the flu, I ran in the Irish Jig 5k race with Laura.  It was a familiar coarse through the heart of EGR.   Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera handy to catch Laura crossing the finish line after her first race.   She posted a great time despite the light snow and freezing morning temp.

After the race, I headed to Chicago for a night at the OTB for Griff's bachelor party.   I stayed with the Hammfamm and enjoyed Sunday morning with my goddaughter.

Lets Go Skiing, Lets Go Skiing

With the downhill snow skiing season quickly coming to an end, Laura and I headed up North for a couple days of spring skiing/riding.  We hit Nubs on Saturday and Caberfae on Sunday.

Laura enjoying a 52 degree day on the slopes.

The yellow chair at Nubs Nob.  Temps were in the upper 4o's with sunny skies, but there were still remnants of the 11" of powder that fell earlier in the week.

Apres ski conditions were superb.

Looking towards Petoskey from Harbor Springs.

Laura and I met up with Shane and Tim at a Petoskey tavern for some shuffle board and green Labatt Blue on Saturday night.

Not a bad way to end the season!

Rail Jammin

Last Saturday there was a rail jam held at the B.O.B.  I am not a huge fan of rails or the B.O.B. but I do enjoy beer outside.  Laura and I decided to walk downtown to check it out.  It was sunny but too cold to enjoy more than one beer.

Here's a skier in action.  There was a lot going on around the event so we didn't pay too much attention to the rail jamming.  The grand prize was a trip for two to Snowbird, which tempted me to enter despite having zero experience on rails.  Unfortunately there was no over thirty telemark division.

Once the sun went down behind the B.O.B., we headed to Rockwell's for some dinner and drinks.  The meatloaf was sensational.  On they way I snapped a few shots of Graps after dark.

You can't tell from this picture, but S. Division is starting to come around.

The Schnitz

Graps has it's share of tasty sandwich shops, including the Schnitz Delicatessen.  Most Saturdays I find my self enjoying a massive reuben and sipping from the best soda fountain east of the Grand.  Last Saturday I got a little crazy with the #17 - Evan's Double Dip.   I highly recommend this combination of corned beef and pastrami meat folds.  It features an un-toasted rye which was much easier on the roof of my tiny mouth.
